Information for Freshers

1. Register your interest at Freshers' Fair. BL Hockey (men's) club will be at the Whitechapel campus, or sign up to the mailing list:

2. Join the facebook group and get in contact with the club committee members.

3. Sign up to our mailing list (see the box to the left)

4. Attend our fresher’s taster session:

Monday 25th September, 6pm, Lee Valley

or feel free to come down to any training session!

5. Pay subs to the club to help us help you.

6. Come along to one of our tables sessions on a Wednesday at the Griff- by the end of the night we'll have you convinced!

How to get involved

Whether you're an experienced player looking to play a high level or you've never even seen a hockey stick before, BL Hockey is perfect for you.

Both the 1st and 2nd XI play their games on a Wednesday afternoon (the uni grants all students this time off for sports) and theres 2 additional evening training sessions during the week.

Home games are at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in the olympic park, a short cycle from Whitechapel, and we generally play teams within the Greater London area.

Our coaching sessions on a Monday evening are fun and incredibly inclusive, catering to everyone's individual skill level. Hockey can be a hard sport to pick up, yet through the support of the club many new players have gone on to find themselves with a regular spot on the 1st XI.

The level of commitment is entirely down to you. The 1st XI requires more of a commitment to training and occasionally play games at the weekend. If this isn't for you the mighty 2nds will welcome you with open arms, playing on a wednesday with training sessions optional.

If hockey really isn't your thing, we have the option of paying reduced subs to be a social member, and simply join in with all the fun off the pitch!
