The first BUCS game of the season, spirits were high, fans were gathering and the team were ready. At 12.30 the game began and Barts 1s came rushing out of the gates, closing down Greenwich and creating chance after chance. 5 minutes into the game, Sam opened the scoring by beautifully tucking home a strike from a near impossible angle. The team then smelt blood and soon the goals came rolling in.

Sam started picking up goals as fast as he picks up injuries and fresher Luke got onto the score sheet with a couple of very tidy finishes. Even Gurpreet managed to score, his first 1s goal at university level hockey for 6 years! Since the attack was doing so well, James got quite bored in goal and therefore decided to pass the ball to the opposition centre forward and practice his 1 vs 1 skills. Unfortunately the attacker came out on top and Greenwich pulled a goal back but some neat short corner routines and flowing open play meant that Barts scored again and again, and the game was well beyond the opposition.

Before the final whistle, Azam committed a horrendous challenge but fresher Eliot was loyal to his captain and took the yellow card in his place even though he was nowhere near the event. The game finished 10-1 and it was the perfect way to start the league campaign.
